Pictures 2016-2017

Here are some of the pictures from our Carnival Day. The kids loved this and I heard many compliments from the classes that came in!

Here are some pictures from the Spring Dance! It was a Blast! Thank you PTO!

Pictures from our Inclusive Playground Trip! Thank you Mrs. Aalgaard, Mrs. Pellin-Ritchie and Mrs. Olson for allowing us to join in on the fun!

And here are pictures from our Itasca Field Trip. I am so proud of these kids- They are so incredible!!

The students worked really hard on their timeline projects. They choose a famous person, did research and put together a timeline of their major life events. The product was displayed during conferences.

Figuring out area and perimeter can be tough. We spend a couple days deciding how to measure to find the correct area and perimeter of objects.

The last week or so, we have been working on 3-D solids. The kids have found the volume and surface area of these figures.

Our surface area project was a great success. The students had to measure the box, find the surface area and tell me exactly how much paper they needed to cover their box. This was a team effort and they blew me out of the water!

We worked on Character Traits in Reading a few weeks ago. Students went around and wrote a trait for each of their classmates on the computers.
We have been working with area and perimeter in math. The next step is volume. They are rocking this!

Ski Trip Pictures

Students have been introduced to different Text Structures. They are working with Chronological Order and are creating a Timeline of a Famous Person.

We are putting a lot of emphasis on kindness for the last few weeks before Winter Break. Our theme is "Be Kinder Than is Necessary." I ask the students every day if there was an opportunity to be kind and if they took advantage of that opportunity. Our goal is to fill our door with acts of kindness, hoping to make our classroom and school that much better. I want the kids to learn to be kind and to take care of one another, today and always.

We have been working with figurative language the last couple of weeks. Here the kiddos are listening to songs and finding the different figurative languages throughout the tunes! We have so much fun doing this!

The students were very successful with the Mock Presidential Election. Many compliments were received from the staff! Great Job 5th Graders!

Students have been working hard in their book club discussions. Here students are discussing characters from the book "The Homework Machine."

We spend quite a bit of time working in groups and learning from one another.

We survived our first day!
